AI SDR alternatives: five other ways to build pipeline, and when each one fits
If an AI SDR (software that finds prospects and writes to them for you) isn't working or doesn't feel right, you have five real options: a different AI SDR tool, hiring an SDR, an SDR agency, a LinkedIn tool your own team runs, or a managed service. Pick by who does the work, whose name is on the messages, and whether you get opportunities your sales team accepts.

Our view
- People usually search for an AI SDR alternative after one of two things: a tool that booked meetings nobody wanted, or a worry about putting machine-written messages under their name. Before switching, write down why the first one failed. If it was targeting or the offer, a new tool will fail the same way.
- 1. A different AI SDR tool. Prices vary a lot. On October 5, 2026, AiSDR listed Solo at $250 a month, Explore at $900 and Scale at $2,500 (Explore and Scale on quarterly contracts). SDR Pilot listed $97, $297 and $497 a month, with a 14-day free trial, sending from your own LinkedIn account. Artisan's pricing page describes its Team plan as about 2,500 leads contacted a month and Scale as about 6,000, with pricing set by its sales team. 11x does not publish prices; its pricing URL returned a 404 when we checked. Fits when your offer and targeting are proven and the problem was the tool itself.
- 2. Hire an SDR. Betts Recruiting's May 2025 guide puts entry-level SDR base pay in tech commonly at $55,000–$70,000, before benefits, tools and management time. The Bridge Group's 2025 research is widely cited at about 3.0 months to ramp. Fits when someone can coach the rep, and you want a person who learns your market and may grow into closing. - 3. An SDR agency. An outside team books meetings for you. Few agencies publish prices, so we don't quote any here. Fits when you need people on the phone or inbox quickly and can hold the agency to a written definition of a qualified meeting. Ask who owns the conversations when the contract ends. Our questions to ask an SDR agency page has the full list.
- 4. A LinkedIn tool your own team runs. LinkedIn Sales Navigator listed Core at $119.99 a month (or $1,079.88 a year) and Advanced at $159.99 a month (or $1,799.88 a year) per seat on October 5, 2026. Outreach tools such as HeyReach start at $79 per sender a month. You still need someone to pick accounts, write and read messages, and follow up. Note that LinkedIn's User Agreement prohibits bots and other unauthorized automated methods for adding contacts or sending messages, so sending tools carry account risk. Fits when someone on your team has the time and the judgment.
- 5. A managed service. Someone else runs the work, but outreach comes from your team's own profiles, so the relationships stay with your company. That is what we do: software finds buyer signals and researches accounts, a person reviews new messages, and success is opportunities your sales team accepts, not meetings booked. Fits when you want the work done without hiring, and you want to see every conversation in your CRM.
- And one more: if your offer or ideal customer is still unclear, the best alternative is the founder doing the selling for a while longer. No tool or hire fixes an unclear offer.
- When we're not the right fit: if you want high-volume cold email or phone calls into a huge market, or fully hands-off sending with no review, one of the first four options will suit you better.

Common questions
What is the best alternative to an AI SDR?
It depends on why the AI SDR didn't work. If the offer or targeting was the problem, keep the founder selling until it's clear. If you need a person who learns your market, hire an SDR. If you want the work done without hiring and with relationships on your own team's profiles, look at a managed service. If the tool itself was the problem, try a different AI SDR.
Are there cheaper AI SDR alternatives?
Some AI SDR tools publish low entry prices: SDR Pilot listed $97 a month and AiSDR $250 a month when we checked on October 5, 2026. A LinkedIn tool your team runs can also cost less, for example Sales Navigator Core at $119.99 a month per seat. Cheaper to buy is not cheaper per opportunity your sales team accepts, so count that before deciding.
Is an SDR agency a good alternative to an AI SDR?
It can be, if you need people working quickly and you can agree in writing on what counts as a qualified meeting and who owns the conversations when the contract ends. Few agencies publish prices, so compare proposals side by side. Our list of questions to ask an SDR agency helps.
Should I use 11x or Artisan alternatives?
11x doesn't publish prices, and Artisan sets pricing through its sales team, so ask both for written terms, a cancellation policy, and real examples of messages and opportunities. If you want published prices, AiSDR and SDR Pilot list theirs. If you want people reviewing messages, compare managed services instead of more software.
Do AI SDR alternatives avoid LinkedIn account risk?
Not automatically. LinkedIn's User Agreement prohibits bots and other unauthorized automated methods for adding contacts and sending messages, and that applies to tools and services, including ones like ours. Ask any vendor exactly what runs on your accounts and what happens if one gets restricted.
