AI SDRs: what works and what doesn't

AI SDR vs AI adoption agent vs AI marketing agent: what each does

An AI SDR finds prospects and starts one-to-one sales conversations to book meetings. An AI adoption agent sits inside a software product and helps existing users (customers or employees) get things done in it. An AI marketing agent plans, creates and runs campaigns for whole audiences. Only the AI SDR is built to create new pipeline, and for trust-heavy deals, human-reviewed outreach from your own team often fits better.

Our view

  • AI SDR: new sales conversations. Researches accounts, writes and sends first-touch email or LinkedIn messages, handles early replies and tries to book meetings. Bought by sales leaders. Judge it on opportunities your sales team accepts, not messages sent. Published plans run from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars a month (see what an AI SDR really costs).
  • AI adoption agent: getting people to use software. Lives inside an app, answers a user's question with context, recommends the next action, and launches a guided walkthrough. Bought by product, customer success or IT teams (vendors include Userflow, Worknet and Whatfix). It does not prospect.
  • AI marketing agent: campaigns for audiences. Takes a marketing goal and produces and runs content, segmentation, personalization and campaign launches from CRM and marketing data (Salesforce Agentforce and HubSpot Breeze sell these). It creates demand one-to-many, not one-to-one conversations.
  • Which job fits which: more meetings from new accounts → AI SDR, a human SDR, an agency or a managed service. Users not adopting your product → adoption agent. More campaigns out of a small marketing team → marketing agent.
  • Where Audienti sits: on the pipeline job, but not as an AI SDR. We run signal-based LinkedIn prospecting from your own team's profiles, software does the low-value work, humans review new messages, and the scoreboard is opportunities your sales team accepts. Compare the routes in hire vs agency vs AI SDR and AI SDR vs human SDR.

What the evidence says

  • AI adoption agent — Userflow (link, checked October 13, 2026) describes its Adoption Agent as an AI agent embedded in customers' products that answers questions in context, recommends walkthroughs and launches guided flows. Worknet (link, checked October 13, 2026) calls itself an AI adoption agent for the software customers and employees use. Whatfix launched AI agents for its digital adoption platform on September 9, 2025 (link). All three sell in that category.
  • AI marketing agent — Salesforce (link, checked October 13, 2026) defines AI marketing agents as software that reasons through data and executes tasks like segmentation, personalization and campaign activation. HubSpot's Agent Hub (link, checked October 13, 2026) lists Content and Campaign agents alongside a Prospecting Agent. Both sell these products.
  • AI SDR — AiSDR's pricing page (link, checked October 12, 2026) sells plans built around sending domains, mailboxes and a LinkedIn account: outbound prospecting infrastructure. AiSDR sells an AI SDR.

Common questions

What is the difference between an AI SDR and an AI adoption agent?

They do different jobs for different people. An AI SDR works outbound: it researches prospects, writes and sends first-touch messages, and tries to book meetings for your sellers. An AI adoption agent works inside a software product: it answers a user's question in context, recommends the next step, and can launch a guided walkthrough so people actually use the software. One creates new sales conversations; the other helps existing users (customers or employees) get value from a product.

What is an AI marketing agent?

Software that takes a marketing goal and plans, creates and runs the work: content, segmentation, personalization and campaign launches, using your CRM and marketing data. Salesforce (Agentforce) and HubSpot (Breeze agents) both sell them. It works one-to-many on audiences; an AI SDR works one-to-one on individual prospects.

Is an AI adoption agent a sales tool?

Not mainly. It is bought by product, customer success or IT teams to drive usage and reduce support load. Some vendors say what it learns can become expansion signals for sales, but it does not prospect new accounts.

Which one do I need to build new pipeline?

For new pipeline, the choice is between an AI SDR, a human SDR, an agency, or a managed service. Adoption agents don't prospect, and marketing agents create demand at the audience level rather than starting one-to-one conversations. If your deals depend on trust, signal-based outreach from your own team's LinkedIn profiles with human review usually fits better than a fully autonomous AI SDR.

Is Audienti an AI SDR?

No. Audienti is a managed prospecting service: our operators run signal-based LinkedIn prospecting from your own team's profiles, humans review new buyer-facing messages, and we are measured on opportunities your sales team accepts.
